Luverne’s 64th annual Hot Dog Night may look different this year with Highway 75 traffic detoured downtown for construction. 

2026 Softball Bash-A-Rama Tournament

Thirty-one regional teams traveled to Luverne this past weekend for the Luverne Bash-A-Rama softball tournament.

Games were played at  Riverside Park and both fields at Joe Roberts Field June 26-28.

July 4 celebration palnned at The Lake

A long lineup of events are planned for July 4 at The Lake in Luverne to celebrate Independence Day, culminating with fireworks at 10 p.m. 

Senior Legion baseball debuts new Redbird Field scoreboard with win

Luverne’s Senior Legion baseball team improved to 10-3 after going 5-1 this past week in a busy schedule of games.

Luverne beat Adrian 10-0 at home June 23 before heading to the Madison Tournament June 26-28.

Hardwick celebrates Jubilee Day

Hardwick community members celebrated Jubilee Day Saturday with an all-school reunion, parade, inflatables, haybale toss, pedal pull and Main Street parade 

Redbirds take down Lakers and Cubs at home

The Luverne Redbirds claimed two home wins this past week and are perched at 10-3 for the season.

Luverne beat Heron Lake 21-0 on June 24 and won 5-2 against Worthington on June 28 at Redbird Field.

Sauer named to 2026 Minnesota All-Star Team

Blake Sauer, Luverne Cardinals second basemen, was recently named to the 2026 Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State Team.

Storm causes damage in Rock County

The early morning storms of Sunday, June 28, caused significant damage in some areas of Rock County. 

In Hardwick high winds downed trees that damaged properties and blocked roads, with community members spending much of the next day in clean-up efforts. 

Plea hearing set for Aug. 17 in murder, vehicular homicide case

Jayson Delfs, Hardwick, appeared in Rock County District Court Monday on charges of third-degree murder and vehicular homicide related to the March 2025 fatal crash northwest of Beaver Creek. 

Junior Legion teams fall in double headers against Worthington and Madison

Luverne’s Junior Legion White and Red teams both gave up two games in double-header action this past week.

Luverne White fell 11-1 to Madison on the road June 23 and lost 4-1 to Worthington at home June 25.
