The Luverne Cardinals boys’ hockey team notched two wins and one tie over the past week.
The Cardinals beat Marshall 4-2 Tuesday, Dec. 3, and Redwood Valley 11-2 Thursday, Dec. 5, and they tied Waseca 3-3 after an eight-minute overtime period.
Under new head coach Tony Sandbulte, Luverne pulled together a 4-0-1 record in their first five games.

The Luverne gymnastics team hosted Blue Earth Thursday, Dec. 5, beating the Buccaneers 132.375 to 125.850 in varsity team competition.
“I thought the girls did an amazing job on Thursday,” head coach Phoebe Flom said.
“The first meet is always tough and we never feel ready, but they did better than I could have expected.”

The Luverne girls’ basketball team lost 65-42 to Pipestone Tuesday, Dec. 3, and fell 62-22 to Marshall Friday, Dec. 6.

“Against Pipestone we were outmatched physically and outworked on both ends of the court,” head coach TJ Newgard said. “As for Marshall, it’s probably a school we have no business playing in the first place.”
