Chamber announces summer photo winners

The Luverne Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced the May-June winners of the 2026 Red, White and Blue photography contest. 

The theme is a nod to this year’s observance of America’s 250th birthday. 

Labor Day rest

This past Monday was Labor Day. Hopefully it was a good day of rest from your regular daily labor. 

Sometimes we get so busy and have so many responsibilities, we struggle to rest. 

We convince ourselves that we have way too much to do and don’t have time to rest.

The Star Herald will once against be covering Adrian-Ellsworth sports events in the Star Herald and on Star Media.

It has been around six years since we have covered the Dragons, and we are excited to have them back on our roster.

LHS tennis team drops two

The Luverne girls’ tennis team lost two matches on the road against Redwood Valley and River Valley Co-op this past week.

LHS fell 6-1 to Redwood Sept. 1 and 5-2 to River Valley Sept. 3 against two strong teams with senior heavy squads.

Lady Pates volleyball team falls 3-1 to Canton

The Lady Pates traveled to Canton, S.D. Thursday, Sept. 3, falling 3-1 to the C-Hawks in the contest.

The Patriots started off hot taking Set 1 by a score of 25-22.

Canton replied with a 25-20 win in Set 2.

Luverne cross country teams win three events at Mountain Lake competition

The Luverne High School cross country team traveled to Mountain Lake Friday, Sept. 5, finishing first in three team events.

LHS placed first in the girls’ varsity 5,000 meter, the girls’ junior varsity 2,500 meter and the boys’ 2,500-meter competitions.
