Luverne purchases new scoreboard, set to be installed this summer

The Luverne School District has ordered a new electric scoreboard for the west end of the football field, a decision that comes after months of consideration and fundraising.

Redbirds win one league game and fall twice in exhibition play

The Luverne Redbirds baseball team won one league game and fell twice in exhibition play this past week.

Luverne lost 3-1 to the Brookings Cubs on the road Wednesday, May 27, and fell 3-2 to the Harrisburg Woodies at home Friday, May 29, in exhibition play.

When 'old school' meets orange signs it's time to consult Google

Sometimes I’m proud to be “old school.” 

I didn’t get a cell phone until 2006. 

And I still haven’t adopted the use of GPS or other personal navigation technology. 

That’s right; when I travel I use my trusty “mental map” or look at Google Maps to plan ahead.

LHS golf ends season at Section 3AA tournament

Luverne finished out the 2026 golf season playing in Day 2 of the Section 3AA tournament at Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake on Wednesday, May 27.

Luverne players competed well but were unable to qualify for the state golf tournament as a team or individually on May 27.
