    The Luverne boys’ basketball team opened the 2023-24 season facing two tough teams on the road. On Friday, Dec. 1, LHS lost to Southwest Minnesota Christian 85-71 in Edgerton.     The Luverne High School wrestling team participated in the Flandreau Booster Club Invitational Saturday, Dec. 2. The LHS boys’ team took second place out of 12 teams at the event.     The Luverne girls’ basketball team fell 56-33 to Central Lyon in their first game of the season in Rock Rapids Monday night.     The Minnesota State High School League sanctioned girls’ wrestling for the first time in the 2021-22 school year, and the first state tournament was held March 5, 2022, at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
