    The Luverne girls’ tennis team improved their season record to 5-1, beating Redwood Valley and River Valley in home meets this past week.     The Luverne cross country team had 12 runners place in the Top 10 Friday, Aug. 29, in Mountain Lake. Luverne and 15 other regional schools participated in the Paul Metcalf Invitational at the Mountain Lake Golf Course. The Cardinals beat MACCRAY 5-2 and took Yellow Medicine 4-3 in their first doubleheader Tuesday, Aug. 19, at home.     The 2025 youth soccer season kicked off Tuesday, Aug. 5, with over 200 kids, Pre-K through seventh grade, playing their first game of the short season.
