Luverne voters will be asked in the Nov. 3 general election if they support an amendment to change their city’s government charter.

After initially looking at a tax levy increase of 7.46% for 2027, the Rock County Board of Commissioners has reduced the proposed tax levy amount to increase 5%.

At their Monday morning meeting, members of the Luverne Economic Development Authority approved loans for a salon business and building owner downtown totaling $10,000.

The Luverne Economic Development Authority approved a $15,904 façade improvement grant for Luverne Initiatives for Tomorrow (LIFT) for work on The Merc.

LHS beat Pipestone 3-2 on the road Tuesday, Sept. 8, and fell 3-0 to Windom on the road Thursday, Sept. 10.

The Cardinals sit at 4-6 for the season so far.

The Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots football team collected its second win of the season beating the Renville County West Jaguars 38-6 Friday, Sept. 11, at home.

The game was cut short because of bad weather moving through the area.

Luverne improved its season to 2-0 after beating Sibley East 56-6 at home Friday, Sept. 11.

The Cardinals built up a 35-0 lead late in the second quarter before inclement weather forced a one-hour delay in the game.
