David Keith Rogness, age 77, of Luverne, Minnesota, died on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne.

Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, at Hartquist Funeral Home, Luverne Chapel.

John Schmidt

John Everett Schmidt was born to John William and Hilda Dorothy (Henry) Schmidt on Feb. 4, 1930, in Flandreau, South Dakota.

When he was one month old, he moved with his parents to a farm in Gray Township of Pipestone County, Minnesota.

Girls win one, fall once in conference action

The Luverne girls’ basketball team split a pair of conference games to put its record at 3-3 in the Big Red Conference and 4-4 overall.

The Cardinals fell 63-40 to Pipestone on the road Tuesday, Dec. 16, and beat Redwood Valley 78-25 Friday, Dec. 19, on their home court.

Lady Pates basketball wins twice, falls once

The H-BC girls’ basketball team took two games and fell once this past week.

The Patriots beat Murray County Central 71-45 Tuesday, Dec. 16, at home and won 53-48 against Edgerton Public Friday, Dec. 19, at home.

Luverne gymnasts fall to Worthingtom

The Luverne gymnastics team fell 138.475 - 131.4 to Worthington on the road Tuesday, Dec. 16.

In the team competition, Luverne fell in all four events to the Trojans.
