Firefighters have busy week

First responders answered two calls about burning vehicles in two days. The first, on Wednesday, was a semi that had pulled to the side of Highway 75 in Luverne. The second was a passenger vehicle that was engulfed in flames north of Luverne on Highway 75 on Thursday.

The Spotlight Dance Center, Luverne, hosted its spring showcase, “Tickets Please: A Passport to Dance!” at the Historic Palace Theatre on Sunday, May 31.

The following appeared in The Rock County Herald on May 21, 1942. 

“Yes sir, we drove from Luverne to Hartley, Iowa, a distance of 72 miles, and made the entire trip between 12 o’clock noon and six o’clock in the evening. Mister that was driving back in 1912.”

Margaret Kohl

Margaret “Margi” A. Kohl, 87, of Chippewa Falls, died Sunday, May 24, 2026, at home surrounded by family while under the care of St. Croix Hospice. 

She was born Oct. 12, 1938, in Luverne, Minn., to Edward and Viola (Soutar) Henningsen.
