Robert "Bob" Reese, age 85, of Luverne, Minn., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, at The Cottage in Luverne. 

Doris Betty Stuckenbroker was born on March 30, 1929, on a farm in Rosedell Township of Rock County, Minn., to Julius and Josephine (Wybouw) VanLeirsburg. She was baptized and confirmed at St.

   William (Bill) Neil Frakes, age 78, of Luverne, Minn., died Sept. 20, 2026, at the Veterans Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. Upon his death, the staff at the hospital did a code of honor procession through the halls of the ICU.

Shirley Joan Johnson was born Jan. 9, 1947, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, to Henry and Susie (Smidstra) Kelderman. She grew up in Doon, Iowa, Canton, S.D., and Hardwick, Minn. After her father's death in 1962, her family moved to Luverne, Minn.

Charles Edward Madison, 87, Brandon, S.D., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026.

Allen James Spartz, age 87, of Luverne, went to heaven peacefully, Oct. 2, 2026, from the Luverne Hospice Cottage with his family at his side after a long battle with his health.

The Battle Axe football series between the Luverne Cardinals and Pipestone Arrows is a rivalry that officially began in 1957.
