The Luverne Cardinals baseball team is knocking on the door to the 2025 State Class AA Minnesota Baseball Tournament after taking down four teams in the section playoffs.

The Luverne Cardinals and the Hills-Beaver Creek Patriots qualified for the state event in 23 events at the Section 3A track and field meet in Redwood Valley Thursday, May 29.

LHS qualified in 11 events and H-BC qualified in 12 events for the 2025 state meet June 10-11 in St. Michael.

The Redbirds dropped one game against Milroy and fell to Renner in an exhibition game at Redbird Field this past week.

Luverne fell 8-6 to the Irish Sunday, June 1, and lost 8-4 to Renner Wednesday, May 28.

Hills-Beaver Creek junior Abigayl Olson qualified for the girls’ State Golf Tournament on Day 2 of the tournament Friday, May 30, at Great Life Golf & Fitness in Worthington.

“Olson finished in seventh place overall,” head coach Dylan Gehrke said.

The Luverne golf team finished their 2025 season Wednesday, May 28, in the Section 3AA tournament.

LHS had three boys and two girls competing in the Day 2 individual tournament at the Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake.
