Patriots boys' basketball top two opponents

The H-BC boys’ basketball team collected two conference wins over the past week to improve its season record to 20-2.

The Patriots beat Westbrook Walnut Grove 73-34 Tuesday, Feb. 10, and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 70-46 Friday, Feb. 13.

Cardinal boys finish regular hockey season 21-4-1

The Luverne boys’ hockey team beat New Ulm 6-3 Thursday, Feb. 12, at home and fell 6-2 to Waseca Friday, Feb. 13, on the road in the Cardinals’ final two games of the regular season.

They finish with a 21-4-1 regular season record as they push on the section play.

LHS boys beat Trojans

The Luverne boys’ basketball team beat Worthington 65-52 at home Thursday, Feb. 12.

The Trojans took a 30-27 lead in the first half of the game, but Luverne switched gears and outscored the Trojans 38-22 in the second half to collect the conference victory.

LHS girls split two games at home

The Luverne girls’ basketball team split two games at home in the past week, finishing the regular season with a 14-12 record.

The Cardinals fell 80-55 to Hills-Beaver Creek Tuesday, Feb. 10, and beat Worthington 84-46 Thursday, Feb. 12.

Wrestling team ends season at sections

The Luverne wrestling team ended its season falling 41-36 to Red Rock Central in the Section 3A team tournament Thursday, Feb. 12, in Jackson.

Out of 13 matches, LHS forfeited six weight classes and Red Rock Central forfeited four in the dual.

Lady Pates collect three wins, now 23-3

The Lady Pates captured three wins in the past week to improve their regular season record to 23-3.

H-BC beat Luverne 80-55 on the road Tuesday, Feb. 10, Mountain Lake 66-42 Thursday, Feb. 12, and Murray County Central 59-42 Monday, Feb. 16, at home.
