•A pair of Luverne High School tennis players ended their season with a victory when they won the consolation championship at the 2016 Minnesota State Boys Tennis Tournament in Minneapolis on Friday. 

LaDell Petersen

Ruth LaDell Petersen was born to David and Gertrude (Frinkman) Thomas on Nov. 16, 1929, in Centerville, S.D. She grew up in Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School. After graduation, she worked in a dental office until she met Just Dewayne Petersen.

Bradley Ver Steeg

Bradley “Brad” Ver Steeg, age 54, of Luverne, Minn., died on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at his home. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 8, at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, at the church.

Ruth Lorang

Ruth Ann Lorang, age 86, of Lismore, died Thursday June 4, 2026, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. Ruth was born Dec. 10, 1939, in Adrian Minn., to Louis P and Ida M (Ruffing) Hendel. She was raised on the Hendel farm north of Adrian with her five siblings and educated in St.

Gerrit Kroontje

Gerrit Kroontje, age 93, of Leota, died Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. 

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Leota Community Church, North Campus. 

Linda Elbers

Linda Elbers, age 70, of Steen, Minn., died on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Sanford University of South Dakota Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at the Reformed Church of Steen.

Liam Raymon, Hills, graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, with a bachelor degree in data science and statistics.
