Luverne Public Schools and regional educators recently expanded hands-on STEM education in rural Minnesota with the launch of RESEPI — the Rural Experiential STEM Education Partnership Initiative.

•There will be no shortage of things to do in the coming days with several events and activities slated in Luverne and Rock County. 

The world became a little better on May 31, 1948, when Sharleen Kay Berg was born at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Minn., the first daughter of Glenn and Dorothy (Branderdt) Boll.

David T. Houser, 92, of Hillsboro, Mo., died Aug. 24, 2026. He was born June 28, 1934, in Alamosa, Colo., to Denver and Esther (Schurdel) Houser. 

Neil Gene Dohlmann, age 81, of Magnolia, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at the Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Home in Luverne. He was born July 14, 1945, in Luverne, to Henry and Mildred (Kruger) Dohlmann. He received his education from Magnolia Public Schools. 

Bruce Robert Kruger, age 77, of Luverne, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. 

A private family service will take place at a later date with Dingmann Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Luverne. 

Korey James Heck, age 50, of Luverne, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. 

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. 

A private family burial will be in the St. Catherine Cemetery.
