Carole Bosch

Carole Bosch, age 77, of Steen, Minn., died peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. 

Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 15, with family present at Steen Reformed Church in Steen, Minn. 

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, at Steen Reformed Church with Rev. Jeremy Wiersema officiating. Burial followed at Eastside Cemetery. 

Arrangements were under the care of Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills, Minn. 

Carole Ann Martens was born on Feb. 27, 1949, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of James and Gertie (Vanden Brink) Martens. She grew up in Lester, Iowa, where she attended country school before graduating from Central Lyon High School in 1967. 

F o l l o w i n g graduation, Carole attended Stewart Beauty School in Sioux Falls, S.D. She worked for Ray’s Beauty Shop in Luverne and Hills before eventually purchasing a beauty shop in Hills. 

On Sept. 11, 1968, she was united in marriage to Roger Bosch at Steen Reformed Church in Steen. 

Throughout their married life, Carole and Roger lived in several communities, including farms near Steen, Minn.; McKenzie, Tenn., where Carole attended Bethel College; Colo, Iowa; Savannah, Mo.; Aberdeen, S.D.; Thompson, N.D.; Central Iowa; Bellevue, Neb.; and eventually returned to Steen. 

During those years, Carole worked as a teacher’s aide in various schools. 

Carole was a member of Steen Reformed Church. She served as board president of ATLAS in Luverne, Minn., and was also a group leader with Bible Study Fellowship. 

Her hobbies and interests included reading, watching detective shows, playing the organ and piano at church, and baking and cooking enough food to feed an army. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, Roger Bosch of Steen, Minn.; three children, Anita Bosch of Elwood, Kansas, Jeffrey (Janet) Bosch of Valley Center, Kansas, and Jeremy (Sarah) Bosch of Eden Prairie, Minn.; eight grandchildren, JC (Jonna) Bosch and their children, Colson, Blake, and Tatum; Corbin (Rachel) Bosch; Brooklyn (Torre) Thompson and their children, Oakley and Harrison; Jerrica (Sport) Tegethoff and their son, Lakin; Noah and Jonah Bosch, children of the late Pam Bosch; and Mackenzie and Logan Bosch (Logan’s girlfriend, Baylyn Shankman). 

She is also survived by her brother, Merle Martens of Valley Springs, S. D.; her sister, Marlys “Mo” (Steve “Ben”) Dirks of Luverne, Minn.; her sister-in-law, Coleen Martens of Hills, Minn.; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Gertie Martens; her son, Grant Bosch; her daughter, Pam Bosch; and her brother, Kevin Martens and her in-laws, Bill and Bertha Bosch.
