
Robert LeRoy DeSplinter, age 86, of Luverne, died Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the Sanford Luverne Hospital.
He was born June 26, 1938, in Pipestone to LeRoy and Adaline (Rostyne) DeSplinter. He attended school in Jasper.
Robert joined the U.S. Army in 1956 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1959.
Robert married Marlene Buysse on January 4, 1964, at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington. After their marriage they lived in Luverne where he worked for Hanson Silo and Herman Motors. He bought a Milk Route Business with three trucks which kept him and Marlene working. He also worked for Oke Honken Construction, Connell Car Care and later worked for the City of Luverne, mowing grass until he retired in 2018.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed their trips to the casino, playing cards and fishing.
Robert was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene, Luverne; six children, Micheal DeSplinter, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Brenda (Paul) Johnson, Luverne, Donald (Ellen) DeSplinter, Lakeville, Steven (Linda) DeSplinter, Jasper, Michelle (Michael) Jones, New Prague, and Heather (Paul) Frahm, Luverne; siblings Mary Lou Schik, Minneapolis, Barb Collins, Minneapolis, Wayne (Delores) DeSplinter, Jasper, James DeSplinter (friend Kathy Ekstrum), Minneapolis, David (Lee) DeSplinter, Minneapolis, Sharon (Steve) Ash, Cass Lake, and Michael (Janine) DeSplinter, Minneapolis; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister Carol Roddey; brother Richard DeSplinter; granddaughter Tara DeSplinter; and grandson Peter DeSplinter Johnson.
Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2025, at Dingmann
Funeral Home in Luverne and one hour prior to the service at the funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at St. Catherine Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Gerald Kosse. Burial was in the St. Catherine
Catholic Cemetery in Luverne.
