In a world that often dismisses sin as outdated or irrelevant, the Bible consistently reminds us that sin is no small matter to God. His holiness demands justice, and his perfect righteousness cannot overlook rebellion, pride, or disobedience.
From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture reveals that God’s judgment against sin is real, certain and unavoidable. “The soul who sins shall die” (Ezekiel 18:20), and Romans 6:23 echoes the truth that “the wages of sin is death.” God’s judgment is not a distant threat but a present reality, evidenced in the brokenness and suffering we see around us every day.
Yet, God’s judgment is not his final word. The heart of the Christian message is that while sin condemns us, God, in his great mercy, provides a path to life and restoration. That path is Jesus Christ.
The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus stand at the center of human history and at the core of Christian hope. Jesus, the sinless Son of God, willingly took upon himself the judgment we deserved. On the cross, he bore the full weight of God’s wrath against sin, offering himself as a substitute for sinners. His burial confirmed his death. He truly entered the grave. But on the third day, he rose again, defeating sin and conquering death.
The resurrection of Jesus is more than a historical event — it is a living hope. It declares that sin no longer has the final say, that death has been defeated, and that forgiveness is available to all who turn to Christ in faith. As the apostle Peter writes, believers have been “born again to a living.”
God’s judgment should sober us, but it should also point us to the cross, where judgment and mercy meet. There is hope for every sinner because Jesus paid the price we could never pay. Through repentance and trust in him, we can be forgiven, restored, and given new life.
In a world searching for answers, the gospel offers the only true solution: though God judges sin, he also saves sinners. That is the unshakable hope found in Jesus Christ.
