Meetings
Blue Mound Cemetery Association will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, March 9, at the home of Randy and Kathy Remme.
Beaver Creek Township  monthly meeting will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in the township hall.
Vienna Township Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at the Kenneth Community Center.

Free tax help at library
Free tax preparation for all low-income and the elderly will be available at the Rock County Library through April 15. Call 507-449-5040 for appointments.
 
Generations activities
Generations is open from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday afternoons with activities and refreshments.
Thursday, March 5, will be Mexican Train with Marlin at 1 p.m.
Friday, March 6, will be the movie “Alaska,” Part 1, with popcorn at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $5 ($3 if Generations member). Part 2 will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 13. Call 507-283-9846 with questions.
Saturday, March 7, is the puzzle tournament.

Farmers: Modifying Existing Equipment workshop March 6
Farmers are invited to sign up for a free workshop at Harlan Spronk’s Shop at 1445 251st Street, Edgerton, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 6, to learn how to modify existing equipment to implement strip till, no till and cover crops practices. World Day of Prayer March 6
The United Methodist Church of Luverne invites the public to a “World Day of Prayer” service at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 6.
This year’s program features the theme, “Rise! Take your mat and walk,” based on John 5 and focuses on the history and rich culture of Zimbabwe.
 
Community Blood Drive March 9
The Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, March 9, at the Adrian EMS Hall. Community Blood Bank is the sole blood provider to Sanford Luverne and Sanford Worthington hospitals. Call Sanford Adrian Clinic at 507-483-2668 with questions. Test your Rock County history trivia at Take 16
Rock County is 150 years old this year, and the Rock County Historical Society and Rock County Library are teaming up to celebrate with Take 16 Brewing Co. for Thursday night trivia. Contests (with prizes awarded) are at 7 p.m. March 12, April 16 and May 14 at the brewery.

Snake Patrick's Day Celebration March 14
Blue Mounds State Park naturalist Amber Brooks will offer a “Snake Patrick’s Day” program about snakes from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at the picnic shelter. Learn about snakes and meet a live snake at the come-and-go event. The event is free, but a park vehicle sticker is required. Call 507-283-6057.
 
Conservation work group meeting March 16
The Rock Soil and Water Conservation District and Natural Resources Conservation Service will convene a local work group meeting at 8:30 a.m. Monday, March 16, in the Land Management Office conference room.
The point of the meeting is to provide guidance and discuss local resource concerns and NRCS programs in Rock County.  Contact the NRCS District Conservationist for an application or contact Doug Bos at 507-283-8862 for information.
 
Hospice Charity Dinner/Auction tickets on sale
Tickets are now on sale for the Hospice Charity Dinner and Auction set for Saturday, April 18, at Grand Prairie Events in Luverne. Individual tickets are $55 and may be purchased at the Sanford Luverne Hospice office at 304 N. McKenzie Street, or call 507-283-1805. (Visa and MasterCard accepted).
The deadline to advertise in the charity dinner program booklet or donate items for the auction is March 13.
All proceeds benefit Sanford Luverne Hospice. Banquet attendees have a chance to win a trip for two to San Francisco and Napa Valley.
 
Free food giveaway March 19
New Life Celebration Church will offer free produce, bread and meat from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at the Generations building at 319 East Lincoln Street in Luverne for those having trouble putting food on the table. Bring your own bags and boxes. Call 507-283-4366.

Defensive Driving refresher classes will be March 26 and March 30.
Defensive Driving first-time class, an 8-hour class, will be offered in two sessions, April 20 and 27, four hours each evening.
Indoor Play for children 0-5 with parents is from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 2. No fee, but must register.
Learn the game of Pickleball will be March 7 for a fee of $5. Play pickleball Mon/Wed/Fri mornings and/or Thursday evenings through April 10. Fee is $20.
Yoga begins at 6 p.m. Monday, March 9, and offers eight sessions ending April 27 for a fee of $49. Participants may also pay at the door $8/night as drop-ins.
Maximize Your Memory on March 11 will be at 5:15 p.m. Learn some techniques to help you remember names, lists, birthdays, appointments, etc., from a speech language patholigist.  Fee is $5.
Computer breach, computer attack, phishing, online dangers, home security – learn from a bank security analyst at Cyber Security—Educate Yourself Now! on March 16.  There are simple things you can do to protect yourself and your family.  No fee (sponsored by Blandin Broadband Grant), but registrations required as class size is limited.
A new 10-week set of ECFE classes begins the week of March 17. These 90-minute classes offer an opportunity for parents to create memories with their children ages 0-5 with the staff and preschool rooms at school.
Beginning iPhones & iPads covers  saving phone numbers, taking photos and saving them, FaceTime, downloading apps. Choose afternoon or evening time March 17 at the library. No fee (sponsored by Blandin Broadband Grant), but registration is required as class size is limited.
Pizza Pizza, Pizza on March 19 is for kids in grades 1-5 who want to learn how to make a pizza from the pros. Class will be at Luverne Pizza Ranch. Fee of $15 covers pizza, pop, and an apron to take home.
Taco Fish Hand Building class teaches basics of working with clay on Mar. 21 and 28. Fee is $25 plus pay $5 material fee to instructor. (For grade 5 through adults.)
Home Alone will teach your child (grades 3-6) basic first aid, fire safety, internet safety, gun safety, storm safety, and about dealing with siblings, loneliness and boredom. Fee is $25.
Think summer! Students in grades K-12 sign up by March 27 for Summer Comm Ed softball, baseball, T-ball teams.  After March 27, registrations will be accepted only if there are openings, and a late fee of $50 will be applied.
