    The Luverne boys’ basketball team played three games this past week winning two and losing one. Fairmont beat Luverne 62-59 on the road Thursday, Feb. 1. The Cardinals then traveled to St. James to take down the Saints 81-69 Friday, Feb. 2, and they topped H-BC 63-59 in Hills Monday, Feb. 5. The Cardinals will host St. James at home Thursday, Feb. 8, and travel to Adrian Monday, Feb. 12.  …

    The Cardinals and Patriots met in Hills Monday, Feb. 5, with Luverne taking the game 63-59. It was a back-and-forth physical game that came down to the last few minutes of play to decide the winner. In the end, Luverne was able to hit a couple free throws to put the game out of reach for H-BC. Game stats were not available for this week’s  Star-Herald printing on Tuesday.

    The Cardinals won three duals and lost one this past week. Luverne traveled to Garretson Tuesday, Jan. 30, beating Garretson 53-27, topping Beresford/Alcester-Hudson 41-33 and Elk Point-Jefferson 58-21. On Thursday, Feb. 1, the Cardinals lost to Adrian 67-5.     The Cardinals sent nine wrestlers to compete in the Big South Tournament at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall Friday, Feb. 2. The tournament included all 13 schools in the Big South Conference.
