The Luverne boys’ hockey team extended its season record to 21-2 this past week with three more wins.
On Friday, Feb. 9, the Cardinals traveled to Le Sueur and topped Minnesota River 6-1. The next day, Saturday, Feb. 10, Luverne beat Minnesota River 5-2 at home. LHS also took down Fairmont 11-3 on the road Monday, Feb. 12.

H-BC boys’ basketball went 2-1 this past week in a busy stretch of games home and away.
The Patriots traveled to Westbrook-Walnut Grove Thursday, Feb. 8, to win 55-50 and topped Elkton-Lake Benton 77-50 at home Monday, Feb. 12, before falling to DeSmet 63-45 on the road Saturday, Feb. 10.

The Luverne girls’ hockey team finished the regular season with three big wins.
The Cardinals beat Waseca 6-0 on the road Tuesday, Jan. 30, topped Windom 9-1 at home Thursday, Feb. 1, and collared the Minnesota River Bulldogs 6-2 at home Saturday, Feb. 3.

The Luverne gymnastics team finished its regular season with three meet wins this past week.

Luverne wrestler Matthew Gangestad, a junior, placed second in the 2024 Ninth Grade State Tournament Saturday, Feb. 3, in Champlin Park.
Gangestad and Hudson Hough qualified for the state tournament Jan. 27 at the Region 2 competition in Redwood Valley.

The Cardinals and Patriots met in Hills Monday, Feb. 5, with Luverne taking the game 63-59.
It was a back-and-forth physical game that came down to the last few minutes of play to decide the winner.
In the end, Luverne was able to hit a couple free throws to put the game out of reach for H-BC.

The tournament included all 13 schools in the Big South Conference.
