The location of the present day Hills City Offices was once the site of a lumberyard.
It started as the A.T. Sexe yard, which was bought out by the Tuthill Lumber Co.

At their regular meeting Monday, April 27, the Hills-Beaver Creek School Board approved the hiring of two new teachers for the 2015-16 school year.
Megan Klumper was hired as secondary English-language arts instructor and Kelli Yonkovich as K-12 special needs instructor.

The Arrive Alive Tour came to Hills-Beaver Creek High School Thursday, April 30, with funding provided by donations from the family of Andrea Boeve and the Exchange State Bank.
Boeve was killed Monday, June 30, 2014, after being struck by a distracted driver on Highway 270 east of Hills.

The celebration of Mother’s Day began in the United States in the early 20th century.
In 1914 President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating the second Sunday in May as a national holiday to honor mothers.

Members of the Luverne Fire Department responded to a grass fire west of Luverne Thursday morning, April 30.
The fire started west of the First Assemblies of God Church along the north side of County Road 4 around 11 a.m.
The fire appeared to be spreading toward the northwest across a field of corn stubble, but it didn’t appear that any structures were damaged.

During his cultural exchange experience in Luverne, Akseli Hatakka from Helsinki, Finland, has garnered a nickname, a new haircut and an understanding of staying on schedule.

Summer vacation will begin a day earlier for students attending Hills-Beaver Creek schools.
The H-BC School Board decided on Thursday, April 16, to move the last student contact day to Monday, May 18. The last high school staff day is Tuesday, May 19, and the last teaching staff day at the elementary school is a half day Wednesday, May 20.
