Springwater Township Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, in the new township hall.

Grief support meetings begin Sept. 30
Sanford Luverne Hospice is offering a five-week Grief Support Group beginning on Monday, Sept. 30, for five consecutive Mondays (Sept. 28-Oct. 28) for anyone grieving the death of a loved one. Meetings are from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center and facilitated by Jill Roemen, LSW. Call Sanford Luverne Hospice at 507-283-1805 to pre-register.
 
Coffeebreak begins Oct. 1 at CRC
Coffeebreak will kick off the year at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Luverne Christian Reformed Church. The event will feature a speaker, food, fellowship and registration for the new year. Bible study will start with “Esther” on Oct. 8. Women of all ages are invited and no prior Bible knowledge is necessary. A nursery and story hour is available. The 68th Annual Rock County DFL Chuckwagon Feed will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Take 16 Brewing Company, Luverne, Minnesota.
 
‘Warrior Heart Yoga Night’ Oct. 2 at library
Southwest Crisis Center and the Rock County Library are teaming up for “Warrior Heart Yoga Night,” a one-hour yoga session designed to help participants find the strength of warrior heart.
The event is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the library.
 
‘Superstar’ Oct. 4 at Palace Theatre
The Palace Theatre will host “Superstar: The Songs, the Stories, the Carpenters” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4. Tickets are available at the Palace Theatre box office or by calling 507-283-4339.
 
Musicians needed for Christmas Cantata
Luverne Street Music invites all interested musicians, vocal and instrumental, to join Carnegie Minstrels as they present the cantata “Sing Christmas.” The choir will be directed by Jennifer Bakken, instrumental director is James Jarvie and Janine Papik will be the accompanist.
Open House and registration is at the Carnegie Cultural Center on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 5–7 p.m. Rehearsals will be Wednesday evenings from 8:15–9 p.m. Performances will be Tuesday, Dec. 3, and Saturday, Dec. 7. A freewill offering will be collected at the Saturday concert for the Rock County Food Shelf. Pick up ‘Operation Christmas Child’ shoebox after Oct. 1
“Operation Christmas Child” shoeboxes will be available at the American Reformed  Church in Luverne after Oct. 1. Fill a shoebox with gifts to share with a child at Christmas. Collection week is Nov. 18-25. Call Karen Bosch at 605-413-9676 or Charla Sandbule at 507-227-1722 with questions.

Shredding event  Oct. 5
The Dakota Shred-It shredding truck will be at the Laundry Room parking lot at the corner of Main and Highway 75 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, and will shred your important papers while you watch. No need to remove staples or paperclips. A freewill offering will be accepted for St. Catherine Carmelites fundraiser.
 
Fire department movie
Luverne Fire Department members will be selling movie tickets door-to-door on Oct. 7 for their annual firemen’s show, “The Secret Life of Pets 2” which will be at the Palace Theatre Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 16-18.
 
Next dental clinic set for Oct. 9
The next dental clinic for children 0-26 is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Rock County Health and Human Services. Call 612-746-1530 to schedule an appointment. All forms of insurance are accepted.
 
Hospice ‘Tables and Tastings’ and ‘Tour of Tables’ Oct. 25/26
Sanford Luverne Hospice will host its Annual “Tour of Tables” Brunch from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 26, at Grand Prairie Events. A “Tables & Tastings” evening event will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, to preview the tables and enjoy complimentary tastings.
Individuals and organizations are encouraged to host and decorate a table for the event and fundraiser. Sign up for a table, purchase tickets or donate gift baskets by Oct. 14. Call Hospice at 283-1805 with questions or email helen.saum@sanfordhealth.org.

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes have openings Tuesday evening for parents with children ages 0–5 years, Thursday morning for parents with children ages 1–2 years and Mondays at 8:30 a.m. for infants birth to walking.  Classes are held in the preschool rooms, giving children an opportunity for activities and parents time to explore topics relevant to child development for all ages.  Call 283-4724 for more details.
