Free Thanksgiving meal Nov. 27
United Methodist Church, Luverne, will host a free community meal at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27. It will be a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings. All are welcome.
 
H-BC Elementary Concert Dec. 2
Hills-Beaver Creek Elementary K-5 students will present their holiday concert, “Here Comes the Snow!”, 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, in the elementary school gymnasium in Beaver Creek.
 
 
Bell ringers wanted for Red Kettle
The Salvation Army 2019 Red Kettle Campaign is Nov. 29 through Tuesday Dec. 24, and bell ringers are needed for the fundraising event. Two-hour shifts are available between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Food shelf announces holiday schedule
Holiday hours at the Rock County Emergency Food Shelf are from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays, Dec. 5 and 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, and from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26. The Food Shelf is located in the lower level of the United Methodist Church, Luverne.
 
SHARE seeks donations, invites recipients to sign up by Nov. 27
The Rock County SHARE program  is currently accepting monetary donations sent to SHARE, P.O. Box 792, Luverne, MN 56156. The SHARE program does not accept donations of used items.
Families who would like to receive gifts from SHARE can find application forms at Sunshine Foods, the Rock County Library, area schools, and at Family Services. Applications need to be submitted by Nov. 27 to SHARE at P.O. Box 792, Luverne, MN 56156.
Distribution will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the Luverne National Guard Armory at 309 S. Freeman Avenue. For more information contact Molly at 507-227-9282.
 
Light a light on Hospice Tree of Lights
Sanford Luverne Hospice is sponsoring the annual Tree of Lights in several area communities. The public may submit names of loved ones by Nov. 29 to light a light on a tree. Suggested donation is $5 per name. Names of those remembered or honored do not need to be associated with hospice. Forms are available at area churches, Sunshine Foods, the Hospice office at 304 N. McKenzie Street, or call 507-283-1805.
 
19th Annual De-Light-Ful 5k Nov. 30

Community prayer and worship Dec. 1
A community prayer and worship service is planned for 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at Grand Prairie Events. All are welcome, and a freewill offering will be donated to a local cause. Call 507-360-1263 with questions.
 
Advent Choral Vespers at St. Adrian
The choirs of Mount Marty College will present their annual Advent Choral Vespers program at St. Adrian at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. The program will include readings from scripture along with songs of the season. The program is free and open to the public.
 
‘Cup of Christmas Tea’ at Hinkly House Dec. 7
The Hinkly House will host “Cup of Christmas Tea,” from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, with a program at 2 p.m.
Volunteer Janet Burger will read Tom Hegg’s poem, “A Cup of Christmas Tea,” and will demonstrate “How to Host a Tea.” Volunteer Shirley Harrison will perform holiday songs on the dulcimer. Refreshments will be served.

•Wine and beer tasting from 5-8 p.m. at Blue Mound Liquor.
•Cribbage tournament at 7 p.m. at Luverne Eagles Club.
•Holiday Trivia Team Tournament at 7 p.m. at Take 16 Event Center      sponsored by Rock County Library.
Saturday, Dec. 7:
•Winterfest Arts and Crafts Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the commons and Cardinal Gym at Luverne Elementary School. Admission is $5; children 12 and under are free.
•Santa’s workshop for grades K-4, sponsored by 4-H is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Luverne Elementary School with make-and-take projects and shopping center for $2-$5 gifts. 
•Pictures with Santa by Myhre Studio from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the elementary multi-purpose room. Cost is $15 for a color 5x7 with proceeds to Rock County S.H.A.R.E.
•Rock County Sno Masters at 10 a.m. at the Howling Dog Saloon. Free swap meet and membership drive; Rusty Nutz Vintage Snowmobile Club Show.
•“A Cup of Christmas Tea” Hinkly House Christmas open house from 1-4 p.m. with a presentation at 2 p.m.
•Wine and beer tasting from 5-8 p.m. at Blue Mound Liquor.
•Community Christmas Cantata, “Sing Christmas,” by Carnegie Minstrels at 7 p.m. at the American Reformed Church. $10 admission supports the Rock County Food Shelf.
Sunday, Dec. 8:

H-BC High School concert Dec. 16
Hills-Beaver Creek sixth- through twelfth-grade band and choir students will present a holiday concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in the high school gymnasium in Hills.

Preschool through grade 5 students are offering frozen cookie dough at $20, or donations are welcome. This fundraiser helps to keep activity fees affordable. Please call Com Ed if you would like to place an order.
Throwing on a Pottery Wheel will be four evenings the week of Dec. 2. Participants grades 9 and older may register and pay $40/fee plus a $10 material fee paid to the instructor.
Sharks in the Waters on Dec. 5 will teach you how to avoid the biggest dangers in estate planning.  Fee is $5.
Ozobots Unleashed on Dec. 9 is for students in grades 4 and 5 to learn design code using little toy robots.  Fee is $11.
Participants grade 5 through adult will get a basic intro at Hand Building Clay Class on Dec. 12 and 13.  Fee is $25, plus $5 material fee paid to instructor.
