Meetings
Blue Mound Quilters will meet from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1. Bring your own project, snacks to share and show-and-tell projects and ideas for next year.

Rose Dell Township Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, in the Township Hall instead of Aug. 15, as regularly scheduled.
The American Legion will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, in the Post home. The Auxiliary will not meet in August.
Women’s Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 8 p.m. Mondays in the United Methodist Church basement. Use the east entrance.

Book signing July 30
Charlotte Prithard, young adult author of “I Be Emma” and “A Dark Hole,” will conduct a book signing at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at the Rock County Community Library.
 
Mah Jongg group meets Tuesdays at library
All ability levels (including beginners) are welcome to join in weekly games of Mah Jongg from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays at the Rock County Community Library.
 
Local churches team up to offer ‘Backyard Roundup’ VBS
The Luverne United Methodist Church will host “Backard Roundup” Vacation Bible School in conjunction with the First Presbyterian Church from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 1-4 for ages 3 through fifth grade. To register your child, stop at the UMC office from 9 a.m. to noon or from 1-3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
 
Bank Nite movie ‘Zootopia’ at Palace Aug. 4
The free Bank Nite movie, “Zootopia,” rated PG, will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at the Palace Theatre in Luverne.
Sponsored by First Farmers & Merchants National Bank and Papik Motors, a free, family-friendly movie is shown on the first Thursday of every month as it was done for “Bank Nite” in the 1930s. A cash prize drawing will follow the movie. Must be present to win.
 
Sanford Wellness Challenge
Sanford Luverne invites the public to participate in the “Step by Step Wellness Challenge” from Aug. 15 to Sept. 25. Teams of three earn points for step totals each week and can also access tips and wellness information. Register by Aug. 5 by calling 507-449-1229. Cost is $10 without pedometer, $20 with.
 
Wood sculpture exhibit through Aug. 19
Self-taught sculptor Fred Cogelow has his work on exhibit at the Brandenburg Gallery at 213 East Luverne Street in Luverne through Aug. 19.
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 507-283-1884 with questions.
 
Respite care available
for caregivers
Respite care is available for caregivers who need a break to maintain their own physical and emotional health. Respite services provide temporary comfort, supervision and care for loved ones to give caregivers time for other responsibilities. Farmers Market open Thursdays
The Luverne Farmers Market is now open for business from 4-7 p.m. Thursdays at Redbird Field. Farmers Market continues Thursdays through October 26. Watch for the signs on Main Street.

For information or to register for these activities call Community Ed at 283-4724. Office is closed until Aug. 1.
Discovery Time Preschool has been approved as one of the Minnesota preschools eligible to receive Early Learning Scholarship money which will cover the entire cost of tuition for qualifying children. Discovery Time presently has openings on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for this Fall. Call 283-4724 for more information.
Soccer Fun for ages five through grade 4, as attended during the 15-16 school year, will be during the week of Aug. 8 or Aug. 15. Fee is $16 for four sessions.
