Patriot girls get big conference win over Wolverines

The Patriot girls’ basketball team came away with a hard-fought victory over Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey Friday night in Hills.
In a battle that was within single digits for the entire game, the Patriots were able to hold off the Wolverines by a final score of 54-45.
At halftime, the Patriots held on to a 27-18 advantage while senior Kenadie Fick had only two points at the break.
The second half was a different story. Fick scored 20 of the Patriots’ 27 points in the half to hold that half time lead.
Fick hit three three-pointers and ultimately sealed the game for the Lady Pates by going 7-7 from the free throw line late in the game.
Sophomores Lanae Elbers and Brynn Rauk scored 15 and nine points respectively and, along with Fick, combined for 46 of the Patriots’ 54 points on the night.
Senior Sam Moser collected nine rebounds while Fick came down with eight of her own.
The Lady Pates improve to 5-2 in conference play as they host Adrian-Ellsworth Tuesday night in another Red Rock Conference showdown.
