Fairmont Invitational
The Luverne boys’ team placed third out of 12 teams Saturday at Rose Lake Golf Club in Fairmont.
The Cardinals shot a 336 in the meet that was ultimately won by St. Peter with a team score of 325.
The Cardinals were paced by Hartquist, who shot a round of 75 to claim medalist honors for the meet.
“Henry played a solid round overall,” said Cardinal boys’ coach John Sichmeller.
“His round was starting to slip away, but he hit a couple of clutch putts late in the round to save himself. This was a really good field of players and to come out on top as the individual champion should give Henry a lot of confidence as we get close to playoff time.”
Bork also played well for the Cardinals with a 79 to claim fifth place. Arends and Sudenga fired a pair of 91s to contribute to the team score for Luverne. Schoeneman (95) and Gonnerman (99) also competed for the Cardinals.
The Cardinal girls’ team played across town at Interlaken Golf Club. The girls shot a team score of 426 to place fifth out of seven teams at the event. Fairmont won the tournament with a score of 367.
Gonnerman had the best score for the girls with a score of 102. Also scoring for the Cardinals were Schutz (103), Hansen (109), and Mann (112).
Makayla Huisman shot a 114 and Nelson scored a 121 for Luverne.

Big South West Division
The LHS girls competed in the third of four Big South Conference events on Monday in Windom.
The girls shot a team score of 416 to place fourth overall in the event. Redwood Valley came out on top with a 352.

Nelson (117) and Trierweiler (121) also participated in the meet for Luverne
“It was nice to play in decent weather today. We struggled a bit with getting the speed of the greens down,” said Luverne girls’ golf coach Chris Nowatzki.
“We are hoping to iron out a few kinks this week as we prepare for some big events coming up. There’s a lot of potential in this group and I’m eager to see how they respond.”
On the boys’ side the Cardinals finished second out of the six teams in the division. Marshall shot a team score of 329 to best the Luverne score of 337 on a windy day at the Worthington Country Club.
