LHS wrestlers gain valuable match experience

The Cardinals were among 13 teams competing in the 2023 Big South Conference Tournament in Pipestone Jan. 14. Because of illness and injuries, Luverne brought eight wrestlers, three of whom placed in their weight classes. Sam Rock placed second at 170. DJ Rock placed third at 160 and Matthew Gangestad placed sixth at 120.

The Luverne wrestlers had a busy stretch of competition on the road over the past week, facing some tough opponents.

The Cardinals started out losing a dual against the Dragons Jan. 10 in Adrian before competing in a triangular in Marshall Jan. 12, when they fell to Pipestone 54-24 and Marshall 58-14.
