Cunningham, Jarchow, Frahm compete at state tennis tournament

Luverne High School was represented by one singles player and one doubles team at the Minnesota Class A State Individual Tennis Tournament last week in Minneapolis.
Pierce Cunningham qualified after repeating as the Section 3A singles champion this season.
Griffen Jarchow and Blake Frahm, who had competed at No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively for the regular season, formed a doubles team for the section individual tournament.
Jarchow and Frahm won the section doubles championship to advance to the state individual tournament.
At the state individual meet June 9-10, Cunningham lost his first match to Michael Frost of Holy Family Catholic in Victoria 6-4, 1-6, 7-5.
Cunningham won his first consolation match 6-0, 6-3 over Winfield Stephens of Providence Academy of Plymouth.
In the consolation semifinals, Cunningham was defeated by Mason Woelfel of Litchfield 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles play, Jarchow and Frahm opened with a 6-4, 6-2 loss to John Gorman and Enrico Petto of The Breck School (Minneapolis).
In consolation play, Litchfield’s Alex Draeger and Braden Olson defeated Jarchow and Frahm 6-1, 7-6.
