The Luverne Cardinals Cross Country teams raced against teams in their section for the first time Friday, Sept. 2, and brought home a mountain of medals from the Mountain Lake meet.
“The conditions were a bit warm at times, but they did a nice job of working through it and striving to improve,” LHS coach Pete Janiszeski said.
“Any time you can combine for 22 Top-15 individual performances and three team championships, it's a great day.”
The boys’ varsity placed first as a team with Camden Janiszeski finishing the 5k first in 16:29.
Not far behind him were Owen Janiszeski (16:53), Ryan Fick (17:49) and Sage Viessman (18:04).
Janiszeski said, “They worked hard and took another step forward, while getting the chance to see how they stack up against some of the teams in our section.”
Official boys’ scores had Luverne in first, Murray County Central in second, Windom Area in third, Fairmont in fourth and Jackson County Central in fifth.
Official girls’ scores had Murray County Central in first, Luverne in second, Windom Area in third, Fairmont in fourth and Adrian/Ellsworth in fifth.
