10 years ago (2006)
•Three Luverne High School students, Logan Sawtelle, Bethany Brandel and Anissa Hanson, were selected to participate in the Luther College Dorian Vocal Festival last week in Decorah, Iowa. 
•The South Dakota Symphony’s Chamber Orchestra will perform a special tribute to Mozart on Sunday, Jan 29, at the Palace Theatre.
The tribute will come two days after Mozart’s 250th birthday.
 
25 years ago (1991)
•Luverne will have a new ladies’ clothing store early in March.
Bob Cook, owner of Cook’s Clothing, announced Monday he has leased the Luverne Main Street building vacated recently by Stevenson’s and has set March 15 as the target date to have the business in full operation.
The name chosen for the store is Cook’s Ladies Wear.
 
50 years ago (1966)
•Another vestige of Luverne’s bygone days will soon be just a memory.
Harry Huiskes last week began taking the roof off the old LaDue carriage house and stable on West Bishop street, getting it ready to move off the lot. Just where it will finally be placed he is not sure.
The building and lot were purchased last fall by Grace Lutheran church from W. J. Wendt.
 
75 years ago (1941)
•A glowing tribute was paid to Battery E of Luverne, now of the United States Army, and late of the Minnesota National Guard, when approximately 2,000 persons gathered last Friday evening at the Armory for the military ball sponsored by the Civic and Commerce association.
 
100 years ago (1916)
•Although the New German Social club’s annual masquerade dance held Saturday evening was a postponed event, it was nevertheless an entire success. Over four hundred tickets, including those of spectators, were sold. The prize for the most comical group of four or more persons was awarded to George and Charles LaDue, Warren Ihde and Robert Jones. A group composed of Miss Sadie Standish, Mrs. W. E. E. Greene, Mrs. Wm. Griffen and the Misses Annie Standish and Jennie Craig won the second prize.
