10 years ago (2005)
•Construction crews closed Highway 75 north of Luverne Wednesday to begin work at the intersection of 131st Street just north of the new medical campus.
 
25 years ago (1990)
•An organized drive for funding to build an indoor ice rink and hockey playing facility is about to be launched by the Luverne Hockey Association.
 
50 years ago (1965)
•Luverne’s public swimming pool will be open June 5. Season tickets will be sold at $15 for a family, $5 for individual tickets. Single admission price will be 10 cents for children and 25 cents for adults.
 
75 years ago (1940)
•Luverne’s municipal liquor store made a net profit of $2,937.44 during the fiscal year ending March 1, 1940. The total volume of sales for the store was $33,964.66, and total merchandise and operating expenses were $30,977.68.
 
100 years ago (1915)
•Luverne’s new flowing well broke loose yesterday morning and since that time it has been discharging between seventy and eighty barrels of water per hour. The well is 284 feet deep and the change indicates that a very strong vein has been tapped.
