•Rock County’s fifth Relay for Life raises $74,000 for cancer.
 
25 years ago (1990)
•Taco John’s fast food franchise opened in Luverne Tuesday to a large lunch crowd. The Luverne Taco John’s offers seating for 52 and drive-up service.
 
50 years ago (1965)
•There has been a report that the Postal Department is planning to make a serious cut in the postal service out of Luverne at night. The night mail pickup, which goes thru Luverne at 11:20 p.m., headed east would drop Luverne’s postoffice as a stop altho the truck would continue to run straight thru Luverne. About 200 letters are mailed each night, after 6:30 p.m., which go east on this pickup truck. With the last mail being dispatched then with a 6:30 p.m. deadline no mail would go out of Luverne, east, until noon of the following day.
 
75 years ago (1940)
•The annual Rock county 4-H club picnic will be held at the Luverne park, next Tuesday, July 2nd. There are 12 clubs in the county with a membership of 355.
 
 
100 years ago (1915)
•The property owners on the west side of Cedar street between Main and Lincoln streets, are making some extensive improvements in front of their properties. New concrete curbs and gutters have been installed and the sidewalks have been widened to thirteen feet to conform to the walks on Main street.
