Dispatch report
May 27
•Complainant reported a verbal domestic. Female party left for the night.
•Reserved for emergency response unit callout in Jackson County.
•Complainant reported that his daughter is stealing from him, and he doesn’t want her to come back to his residence. Deputy spoke with her and told her to stay away.
•Complainant reported a silver car has sat in front of her house for about an hour several times this week. The driver never gets out. Deputy advised the driver is on his lunch break from work and pulls under the tree for shade and reads.
•Complainant reported she had her bike stored with a person that lives on West Edgehill Street all winter, and they are hesitant to get it back to her, so she came to Luverne to get it, and it is all broken like it has been in a wreck. Complainant is unsure of the person’s name because her boyfriend had it stored. She also reported items stolen off of it on May 25.
May 28
•Deputy reported a gray Ford Focus sale vehicle locked and running at location. Attempted to locate key holders, but there was no answer.
•Deputy arrested subject for DWI. Had G&S tow vehicle, and subject was taken to jail.
•Complainant reported they got a call that sounded like gurgling and someone pressing buttons. Contacted Verizon to get subscriber information. Phone is a prepaid, and no information is available.
•Complainant reported something hit their windshield. Complainant did not know what road they were on just that they thought they were in Pipestone County. Transferred to Pipestone.
•Complainant reported a male just took off with his own child, and the mother wants the child back. They contacted us to see if the male was in Luverne. Minnehaha County called and said the male had returned the child to the mother.
•Dispatcher received a 911 hang-up call. Called the number back and spoke to subject who advised his daughter was playing with his phone. No sign of distress.
•Complainant reported a white F150 with a Luverne Hockey sticker in the window was four wheeling in the dirt at the creamery pond. Complainant advised the pickup got stuck then tore out of the area at 60 mph.
•Complainant requested we do a welfare check on his baby daughter. The mother lives in Pipestone but stays in Luverne. Deputy checked, and they said that the mother doesn’t stay in Luverne. He was told to contact Pipestone County.
•Complainant advised they were behind a drunk driver on I-90. Transferred to State Patrol.
•Complainant reported a domestic on State Highway 23. Small blue car parked in the lane of traffic. Both female and male party got out of the car and started walking away from the vehicle. Unable to locate vehicle.
•Complainant reported a domestic. Deputy arrested subject and took him to jail. Also charged with probation violation.
•Deputy reported a stalled vehicle at location. Made contact with relative of registered owner, and they will be getting vehicle later tonight or tomorrow morning.
•Complainant reported loud music somewhere, possibly a backyard neighbor, on the 1000 block of North Blue Mound Avenue.
May 29
•Complainant reported fire alarm in Zone 1 at the Minnesota Veterans Home. Paged Luverne Fire Department.
•Deputy reported vehicle abandoned approximately 1.5 miles east of Beaver Creek. Vehicle is off the roadway. On May 31 at 12:47 p.m., deputy reported the vehicle still has not moved. Had it towed by G&S.
•Complainant reported a driver who looked to be only 13 years old driving by himself. He left the gas station headed westbound on I-90. Gave to State Patrol.
•Complainant reported the rotten corn at the elevator in Hardwick is toxic and needs to be removed because it is going to kill someone. He was advised to speak with the city, but said law enforcement needs to take care of it. Deputy spoke with him and told him it was the elevator’s issue, and he can contact an attorney regarding it.
•Complainant reported theft of money from a vehicle.
•Complainant reported a bolt sticking up from the railroad tracks by Magnolia. Deputy went and pushed the bolt back down.
•Complainant reported being harassed by subject who has threatened her in the past, and now he is pounding on the door.
•Complainant reported her landlord left a hand-written note on her door as notice of eviction stating they need to be out tomorrow.
•Complainant reported that there was a large flatbed that pulled into the parking lot with its lights on and then turned them off. A pickup did the same. Complainant could now see people walking around the parking lot with flashlights. Deputies checked and said there was a large group of boys there, and they kicked them out.
May 30
•Complainant reported that she lost the front license plate off their vehicle.
•Complainant reported vandalism to a vehicle, and there is a suspect.
•Complainant reported a theft from her garage.
May 31
•Complainant reported that she was following a white cargo van heading westbound on I-90 that was going all over the road. Transferred call to Minnehaha County as they were nearing Brandon, South Dakota.
•Dispatcher received a 911 call from McDonald’s. It was a pocket dial.
•Minnehaha County reported an offense that occurred in Rock County.
•Complainant reported some vandalism to a lock.
•Complainant reported her car died on the 600 block of East Main Street. She will get it out of there today.
•Complainant reported problems with subject who has threatened to come and get his child and take the child to Kentucky.
•Complainant reported Alliant is going to dig wire up to his house, and they don’t have permission. Deputy advised him to contact an attorney.
•Complainant reported she got home, and her boyfriend changed the locks on the house and won’t let her in. Deputy reported complainant is going to stay in Sioux Falls tonight and try and get more of her belongings tomorrow. Subject is willing to let her have her material possessions.
•Deputy arrested subject for a probation violation. He was taken to jail.
June 1
•Complainant reported she lost a set of keys at the cemetery.
•Complainant reported what she suspects is a monument of some kind lying in the east ditch near location intersection. Deputy reported it was a utility access box with stainless steel lids on it in the ditch.
•Complainant requested a welfare check on subject. Deputy reported that subject is fine and is out mowing his lawn. Notified complainant.
•Complainant reported that an early 2000 blue four-door Dodge pickup at location does not have plates or insurance. He is also concerned about a harassment issue between the owner of the vehicle and himself.
•Complainant reported a vehicle speeding. Vehicle is headed east out of Jasper on 251st Street toward Highway 75.
•Complainant reported a trailered generator they would like us to be aware of parked on McKenzie Street. They would like a patrol to drive by a few times in the night if possible.
•Complainant reported a burglar alarm had been manually activated at location. Complainant spoke with party at location, and they requested law enforcement as they are in fear of being robbed by men there. Suspect vehicle went westbound down I-90. Passed information along to South Dakota.
June 2
•Dispatch received an automated temperature alarm. Contacted maintenance person.
•Complainant requested a welfare check on his child. Deputy checked, and everything is fine.
•Dispatch received a 911 hang-up call. Deputy checked, and everything was OK.
In addition, officers responded to 2 motor vehicle accidents, 4 deer accidents, 2 transports, 1 parking violation, 1 funeral escort, 9 traffic stops, 13 ambulance runs, 2 paper services, 9 animal complaints, 2 false alarms, 1 driver’s license check, 7 log/alarm sheets, 6 drug court tests, and issued 7 purchase/carry permits and 14 burn permits.
