Notice is hereby given per Minnesota Statutes 116.07, subd. 7(a), that Northern Hills Farms, Ltd. will be applying to Rock County and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency for a permit to expand a feedlot with a capacity of 500 animal units or more.
The feedlot proposed to be expanded is located in the NW1/4 of Section 16 of Martin Township, T101N, R46W, of Rock County, Minnesota.
The existing feedlot currently has 930 head of finishing cattle housed in open lots and a partial confinement for a total of 930A.U. The proposed expansion will consist of constructing one bed pack barn that will house 960 head of beef finishing cattle, a manure stacking area, vegetated infiltration areas for the feed storage and manure stacking area. After the expansion, the feedlot will consist of 1890 head of finishing cattle for a total of 1890 animal units.
The solid manure will be stored in a manure pack and/or dry manure stacking area, runoff from the open lots will flow to a settling basin and through a concrete spreader channel and the clean water is diverted to a vegetated infiltration area with earthen berms around the perimeter. The runoff from the feed storage and dry manure stacking area will be contained in vegetated infiltration areas.
The feedlot will be owned by Northern Hills Farms, Ltd.
This publication shall constitute as notice to each resident and each owner of real property within 5,000 feet of the perimeter of the expanding feedlot as required by Minnesota State Law.
