OFFICIAL SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO. 48, FOURTH SERIES

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUVERNE

TO REGULATE CANNABIS BUSINESSES

 

On April 8, 2025, the City of Luverne, Minnesota (“City”) adopted an Ordinance regulating cannabis businesses.

The proposed ordinance for the City of Luverne aims to regulate cannabis businesses to protect public health, safety, and welfare. It outlines the authority and jurisdiction under Minnesota statutes, defines key terms, and establishes requirements for registering and operating cannabis retail businesses. The ordinance includes detailed application processes, compliance checks, and conditions for renewal and suspension of registrations. It also addresses temporary cannabis events, public use restrictions, buffer requirements, advertising regulations, and duties of licensees. Additionally, it permits the City to operate a municipal cannabis retail business only by ordinance and specifies penalties for violations.

It is hereby determined that publication of this title and summary will clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of Ordinance No. 48, Fourth Series.  A copy of the entire Ordinance shall be posted at the Luverne City Offices.

It is hereby directed that only the above title and summary of Ordinance No. 48, Fourth Series be published, conforming to Minn. Stat. §331A.01, with the following:

This ordinance takes full force and effect seven (7) days after its publication.
