Local residents initiated into Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society
Two local residents were recently initiated into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.
Calla Jarvie, Luverne, was initiated at Emporia State University.
Erik Tofteland, Luverne, was initiated at South Dakota State University, Brookings.
Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of those receiving graduate degrees are also eligible.
 
Area students graduate from NSU
Tayla Peterson and Brooke Thielbar, Luverne, graduated Saturday, May 4, from Northern State University, Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Peterson earned a degree in marketing, and Thielbar’s degree is in music.
 
St. Mary’s Winona honors Smedsrud
At the Saint Mary University, Winona, Honors Convocation Friday, April 24, Kynzie Smedsrud, Luverne, was awarded the American Institute of Chemists Award.
Smedsrud will graduate from Saint Mary’s this spring and has been accepted into the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth.
She is the daughter of Steve Smedsrud, Luverne, and the late Pat Smedsrud.
