Kenneth student earns national recognition
Kristoffer Severtson, Kenneth, was among 11 students from Lake Area Technical Institute, Watertown, South Dakota, to participate in the SkillsUSA National Championships in Louisville, Kentucky, June 26-27.
Severtson and teammate Gregory Little of Watertown earned 12th place in the Welding Fabrication competition of the championships.
It is the largest skill competition of its kind in the world and involves more than 6,400 career and technical education students — all state contest winners — competing in 103 trade, technical and leadership fields.
Severtson, son of Sterling and Denise Severtson, Kenneth, is a 2017 Luverne High School graduate.
 
Brown makes dean’s list at St. Cloud State
Zoe Brown, Luverne, has been named to the Spring 2019 dean’s list at St. Cloud State University. To be eligible, students must earn a 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
 
Area students graduate from St. Cloud State
Spencer Schacht and Zoe Brown, both of Luverne, graduated from St. Cloud State University on Friday, May 10, following Spring 2019 semester.
Schacht graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in mass communications.
Brown graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and a certificate in professional selling specialization.
