Deutsch named All-State School Board

Luverne School Board member Colleen Deutsch was recently named to the 2020 All-State School Board through the Minnesota School Boards Association.
Deutsch was one of six school board members across the state presented the prestigious award, which was presented Jan. 16 during the MSBA Leadership Conference in Minneapolis.
“The All-State School Board (recognition) represents the highest example of board service,” said MSBA Executive Director Kirk Schneidawind.
“These are school board members who are committed to student achievement, determined to build support for their local schools and unwavering in the pursuit of what’s best for students.”
Deutsch, who was first elected to the local school board in 2000, was nominated for the award.
“Colleen Deutsch is an advocate for all learners. She is passionate about making a difference for the betterment of the school and a better educational system for all students to thrive and flourish,” the nomination read.
Deutsch and her husband, Doug, live in rural Luverne.
Others board members and their school district receiving the award with Deutsch include Stephen Schnieder of Worthington, Ann Long Voelkner, Bemidji Area, Tom Peltier, Grand Rapids, Wally Connaker, Pine City, and Stacey Ruelle, Prior-Lake Savage area.
