Area students graduate from U of M Moorhead

Minnesota State University Moorhead will award degrees to more than 800 students at the Spring 2022 commencement Friday, May 13, in the Nemzek Fieldhouse.
The following area students will graduate: Elijah Haugom, Bachelor of Science in geosciences, Luverne; McKenzie Helgeson, SPEC educational leadership, Beaver Creek; Bailey Swan, magna cum laude, Bachelor of Science, speech/language/hearing, Hills; Wyatt Vansteenberg, Bachelor of Science, business administration, Luverne.
 
Pap, Moser receive scholarships
Two area students were recipients of Compeer Financial Fund for Rural America scholarships in the amount of  $1,500.
They are Morgan Pap of Luverne and Samantha Moser of Beaver Creek.
Scholarship recipients were chosen based on their academic achievement, essay writing and involvement in agricultural and community organizations.
 
MSU Mankato commencement
Commencement ceremonies at Minnesota State University Mankato took place on May 6 and 7 for Spring 2022 graduates including four Luverne High School graduates.
They are Jesse Kontz, Bachelor of Science degree in law enforcement; Janae Kopp, Bachelor of Science in nursing, summa cum laude; Joci Oye, Bachelor of Science in marketing; and Kaitlyn Roberts, Bachelor of Science in alcohol and drug studies, magna cum laude.
 
Honors Program grads at U of N Lincoln
The University Honors Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will graduate a record 246 seniors during spring commencement exercises May 14 at Memorial Stadium.
To graduate from the Honors Program, students must maintain at least a 3.5 grade-point average, complete a culminating senior project or research thesis, and fulfill other curricular requirements.
May Honors Program graduates from Luverne are Samantha Pierce and Emma Verbrugge, both in the College of Arts and Sciences.
