She married Steven Bennett on Nov. 22, 1969, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills. The couple lived their entire married life north of Beaver Creek on the Bennett family farm. Sandra was a mother and farm wife until 1988 when she began working at Linton’s in Sioux Falls and then the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne. In January of 1994 she joined the kitchen staff at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, where she worked for more than 21 years until her retirement in November of 2015.

She enjoyed gardening and canning, watching the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and sprint car races. She was especially fond of annual 4-wheeling trips with the “Ruff Riders” and watching Steve and the boys play fastpitch softball.
