RoseAnne McCardell DeAmicis

Lead Summary

RoseAnne McCardell DeAmicis peacefully entered Heaven on July 13, 2015.
On Aug. 24, 1936, RoseAnne was born the 12th of 15 children to Martin and Teresa McCardell in Ellsworth, Minnesota. She graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester. Her career took her to Los Angeles, California, and then to San Francisco, California, where she worked at University of California, San Francisco, Kaiser Hospital and in a private urology practice.
On March 16, 1968, RoseAnne married the love of her life, Clement DeAmicis, and had daughters, Amy and Tracy. She created a home warmed with her signature homemade cinnamon rolls and potato bread. She loved the symphony and the ballet and relished her daily walks throughout the city. RoseAnne learned to speak Italian and savored her travels. She was an active member of the Columbus Day Celebration Committee, St. Brendan Parish and the Museo-Italo Americano. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren, Luke, Milena, Rita, Jane, Nikolay and Anthony. She embraced their school pick-ups, park play dates, sporting events and ballet recitals.
During the last year, she valiantly fought cancer with dignity and courage. This spring, thanks to the Order of Malta, she travelled to Lourdes, France, to be close to the Blessed Mother. A devout Catholic, she prayed the rosary daily.
She is survived by her husband, Clement DeAmicis; daughters Tracy (Ian) McMahan and Amy (Doug) Wilton; stepchildren David (Vera) DeAmicis and Nancy DeAmicis; grandchildren; four sisters; an adoring extended family and set of friends and Amy and Tracy's many friends who considered her a second mother.
We are indebted to the care of her medical team and to her devoted caregivers, who held her hand and ours in her final days in San Francisco.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 18, at St. Brendan Church, 29 Rockaway Avenue, San Francisco.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Museo Italo-Americano, 2 Marina Blvd., Building C, San Francisco, CA 94123.
