Ronald Gene Bruhn, age 72, of Hardwick, Minnesota, died Oct. 26, 2023, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage after a long battle of illness. He was the oldest of five sisters and two brothers.

Ron was born on May 18, 1951, in Luverne, Minnesota, to Harm and Evelyn (Wieck) Bruhn. He attended Magnolia High School and graduated in 1969.

Ron was married in 1973 for 17 years. The couple had four children. In 1979 they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The greater part of his years, he worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator at Friessen Construction in Sioux Falls. He was known in the construction business as “Tanglefoot.” Later on, Ron worked for First Rate Excavate for three years before retiring in 2016.

In 2019 he purchased a home in Hardwick where he enjoyed doing things around the house. Ron was very knowledgeable when it came to working on vehicles and lawnmowers, which he enjoyed doing very much.

He will always be remembered for his outgoing personality and his love of western movies and television shows and, of course, his sweet tooth.

Ron is survived by his mother, Evelyn Bruhn, Adrian; four children, Terry Bruhn, Dell Rapids, South Dakota, Michael Bruhn, George, Iowa, Nicole (Jeremiah) Christensen, Hartford, South Dakota, and Jessica (Erick) Wright, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 12 grandchildren, Zachery, Cole, Courtney, Carly, Cameron, Genevieve, Jasmine, Justin, Griffin, Layla, Alexis and Cassandra; seven great-grandchildren, Alayah, Camden, Brayson, Yarisbel, Mateo, Saylor and Bryson; seven siblings, Richard (Linda) Bruhn, Magnolia, Minnesota, Randall (Sheri) Bruhn, Selma, Alabama, Ruth (Wayne) Bents, Lismore, Minnesota, Rachelle (Gary) Bents, Deepwater, Missouri, Rebecca Avis, Clinton, Missouri, Robyn Berghorst, Bingham Lake, Minnesota, and Rosalinda (Jim) Janshen, Adrian.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harm; an infant sister, Roxanne; and an infant great-grandson, Aiden Mazzoni.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Laura Borman. A time of fellowship will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date.
