Roger Warren Beers, 84, Luverne, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
A time of fellowship will be from noon to 1 p.m. with a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. A private committal of cremains will be at a later date.
Roger Beers was born March 29, 1932, to Harry and Lena (Hamann) Beers in Luverne. He graduated from Luverne High School in 1950. He served his country in the United States Army.
Roger married Gayle Frakes on Aug. 31, 1952, in Luverne. After Roger returned from the service, the couple farmed southwest of Luverne. In January 2012 they moved to Luverne. Roger became a resident of the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne in June of 2014.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne, the Rock County Fair Board, and a 4-H leader. He enjoyed attending cattle shows, county fairs and raising and showing Australian cattle dogs.
Roger is survived by his wife, Gayle Beers, Luverne; a son, Brad (Jane) Beers, Luverne; two grandchildren, Amber (Corey) Rost and Ryleigh Beers; two great-grandchildren, Shayla Rost and Raena Rost; two stepgrandchildren, Jason and Amanda; and a sister, Evalou (Curtis) Aanenson, Minnetonka.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Scott Beers, in 2001.
