On Saturday, April 11, 2026, Bob passed away peacefully at Sanford Luverne Hospital in Luverne, Minn., at the age of 80 years, and 2 days.
Bob had a love for history. If he didn’t know the answer to something, he would go to the library and figure it out. He loved threshing bees. His favorite was in Butterfield, Minn. Bob also enjoyed riding his bike with his friend Mary. He was part of a coffee group that met on a regular basis. Bob will be remembered for his goofy sense of humor and his willingness to help people. If you knew Bob, he had a story about everything. He loved to drive around the community to see what was happening. As everyone knows, Bob was tight with his money. So to honor his way of life, his funeral will be simple.
Bob is survived by his nieces and nephews, Alicia DeYong of Sioux Falls, S.D., Patricia Lynch of Sioux Falls, Patrick DeYong of Sioux Falls, Michele Brown of Sioux Falls, Glenn DeYong of Elkhart, Ind., Barbara Gerdes of Sioux Falls, Sandra Linder of Sioux Falls, Deborah Johnson of Beaver Creek, Minn., Ricky Vanderberg of Sioux Falls, Donavan Vanderberg of Sioux Falls, and Wade Vanderberg of Sioux Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Grace DeYong; sister, Valetta Haigh; and brothers, Floyd DeYong, Andrew DeYong, and Glenn DeYong.
