Pauline Catharine Hoeltke Rueter passed away Nov. 18, 2024, at age 100 at Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne, Minnesota.
A funeral service will be at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minnesota, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 27. Rev. Dr. Phil Booe will officiate. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Hartquist Funeral Home of Luverne is handling the arrangements.
Pauline was born September 22, 1924, to Louis and Ella Thomas in Columbus, Indiana. She was baptized at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on November 23, 1924. She attended St. Peter’s Lutheran Elementary School and Columbus High School.
Shortly after graduation, Pauline was married to Edward Rueter on September 26, 1942. Four children, Don, Mary, Martha and John, were born to this union.
Pauline served as bookkeeper for the hatchery and feed store that Ed owned in Dillsboro, Indiana. In 1962 Ed trained to become a USDA egg grader. Moves to Brighton, Colorado, Luverne, Minnesota, and Westbrook, Minnesota, followed. Pauline worked at banks and savings and loans with each move.
Pauline and Ed’s first love was teaching their children to serve our Father who sent His only Son to live, die and rise for us.
Upon Ed’s retirement in 1980, Ed and Pauline volunteered for four winters throughout the Southwest. They worked through Habitat for Humanity and Lutheran World Ministries. After Ed’s death in 1984, Pauline continued to serve at Grace Lutheran Church of Westbrook and Good Samaritan of Westbrook for over 30 years.
She is survived by her four children and their families.
