Dianne J. Johnson, 64, Ellsworth, died Monday, April 18, 2016, at Sanford Luverne Hospice in Luverne.
A funeral service was Friday, April 22, at Bethel Reformed Church in rural Little Rock, Iowa. Burial followed at Bethel Reformed Cemetery.
Dianne Jean Bergman was born Aug. 3, 1951, to John Bergman and Margaret (Stratmeier) at Sibley, Iowa. She was raised on a farm near Little Rock. She attended school in Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock High School.
On Feb. 9, 1971, Dianne married Harlan Johnson at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock. They made their home near Ellsworth for a couple of years. In 1974 they moved to Adrian until 1986. From 1987 to 1990 they lived on a farm near Ellsworth before moving into Ellsworth in 1990. Dianne worked as a church secretary at the Adrian/Magnolia United Methodist Church, at the Ellsworth Veterinary Clinic as a receptionist, and as head cook at the Ellsworth Public School. She also did various cake decorating and event catering.
Dianne was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church and the Bethel Women Ministries. She enjoyed playing piano for church services and she taught Sunday school for 15 years. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, family outings and church and school activities. A fond memory for Dianne was the Ellsworth Boys’ Basketball trips to the state tournament.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Harlan Johnson, Ellsworth; four daughters, Amy Labat, Cottonwood, Tracy (Bob) Gruis, George, Iowa, Jan (Adam) Kinsinger, Luverne, and Jill Johnson, Luverne; six grandchildren, Dylan Labat; Max, Sam and Bre Gruis and Andrew and Eli Kinsinger; and three sisters, Linda (Larry) Kix, Rock Rapids, Iowa, Marjorie Van Roekel, Oakdale, and Judy Huisman, Ellsworth.
Dianne was preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret Bergman; mother and father-in-law, Chris and Anna Leta and brothers-in-law, Russel Huisman and James Carpenter.
