Darlene Mae Spease, 82, Minneapolis, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, in Minneapolis.
A memorial service was Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Bethel Baptist Church in Brookings, South Dakota.
Darlene Braa was born Sept. 20, 1933, to George and Iona Braa in Jasper. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1951.
Darlene married Loren Spease on April 15, 1953, in Luverne. After Loren finished chiropractic school, the couple moved to Brookings, South Dakota, in 1959, where Darlene enjoyed a career working at the South Dakota State University library.
She was involved in numerous activities including church/Bible studies, various community organizations and volunteer activities. She enjoyed knitting and sewing and shared her talents with others.
She is survived by her children, Bryce Spease, Brookings, Craig (Karen) Spease, Arroyo Grande, California, Laura (Bruce) Cardwell, Beardsley, and Julie (Quinten) Hofer, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley (Bill) McQuoid, Bloomington; a brother, Bill (Carol) Braa, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Loren.
