Darlene Margaret (Rozeboom) Bosch was born on September 29, 1931, to Charles and Margaret (De Noble) Rozeboom in Luverne, Minnesota. She was raised on various farms near Steen, Minnesota, and attended the local country school. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1949 and started working at JCPenney in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
On February 23, 1950, Darlene married the love of her life, Cornelius Bosch, at the Steen Reformed Church. The couple lived near Steen until they completed building their own home in Steen. Darlene loved being a homemaker and took great pride in raising the couple’s five children, as well as nurturing multiple generations of family and friends. When the children got older, she completed her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) requirements and worked as a CNA at the Tuff Home in nearby Hills, Minnesota, and also helped in the laundry department. In 2002, after living in Steen for 50 years, they moved to Luverne. In 2017 Darlene and Cornie became residents at Bethany Meadows in Brandon, South Dakota. Cornie preceded her in death on November, 26, 2021. On Sunday, April 2, 2023, Darlene went to be with her Lord at the age of 91 years, 6 months, and 3 days.
Darlene was an active and beloved member of the Steen Reformed Church and a faithful listener to the services when she could no longer attend in person. She enjoyed playing (and winning) a good game of cards, especially 500 and pinochle. She cherished the time she spent in her flower gardens and plumping up her ever-growing congregation of birds at Bethany Meadows. Spending time with family, and keeping up with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her great joy.
Darlene also made time to travel to some of her favorite destinations with the Prime Timers and Prairie Coach. Her devotion to sending handwritten cards and letters to her grandchildren and great grandchildren will always be remembered along with the unique memory books she made for them. She was a terrific cook, who always had a snack and to-go container for her visitors. She appreciated spending time visiting with friends and taking in gospel concerts. She was a patient and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who emphasized the importance of family, faith and kindness.
Darlene is lovingly remembered by her children, Larry (Janet) Bosch of Vero Beach, Florida, Colleen Bosch (Wayne Ystebo) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Nancy Hilbrands of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, David (Maria) Bosch of Tifton, Georgia, and Michael (Ellen) Bosch of Gainesville, Florida; grandchildren Adam, Clinton, Aaron, and Moreen; James and Jeremy; Nathan, Nicole and Nolan; Rebecca and Matthew; Kendall, Carsten and Jacob; and 19 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Gert Hup of Hills.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cornie Bosch; parents, Charles and Margaret Rozeboom; siblings, Conrad (Vera) Rozeboom of Clara City, Minnesota, and Raymond (Henrietta and Mona) Rozeboom of Rogers, Minnesota; sisters-in-law Henrietta Rozeboom, Mona Rozeboom, Vera Rozeboom, Betty Boeve, and Laura May Bosch; and brothers-in-law Dries Bosch, Dick Hup, and Edwin Boeve.
