A.D. “Bud” Bjerrum, 85, Luverne, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne.
A private family burial will take place.
A.D. Bjerrum was born Aug. 9, 1930, to Henry and Orva (Mitchell) Bjerrum at the Seward Hospital in Seward, Nebraska. Bud grew up and received his education in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1952 Bud joined the United States Army where he was sergeant of the motor pool. He was honorably discharged in 1954.
On Dec. 3, 1955, he married Alice Cuda in Benedict, Nebraska. They made their home in Nebraska until 1970 when they relocated to Slayton, where Bud worked for Champion Home Builders. They moved to Ortonville in 1992 to retire on Big Stone Lake. In 2001 they moved to Luverne to be closer to their children. Bud became a resident at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne in June 2011.
He was a member of the Murray County Lodge in Slayton and also the El Riad Shriners in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He loved fishing and spent many summers fishing on Big Stone Lake. His dream was to move to Minnesota so he could be closer to the good fishing.
Bud is survived by his wife, Alice Bjerrum, Luverne; a daughter, Lori Hess, Luverne; a daughter-in-law, Penny Bjerrum, Sioux Falls; two grandsons, Chad Hess, Mankato, and Andy (Heather) Hess, Luverne; two granddaughters, Sara Garrett and Kelly Shuck; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Marian Augustine, Council Bluffs, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Dan (Jeanne) Cuda, Lincoln, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Allen Bjerrum; his parents; two brothers and one sister.
