Ardys Dirckx, age 92, of Madison, South Dakota, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026, at her home.

Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Rustand-Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Edgerton, Minnesota.

Ardys Ann Welk was born Feb. 26, 1933, in Woodstock, Minnesota, to Edward and Bernice (Evans) Welk.  She grew up on a farm near Chandler, Minnesota, and went on to graduate from Chandler High School. After high school she moved to Marshall, Minnesota, and worked there for a few years before returning home.  Ardys met Theodore Dirckx and on May 19, 1975, they were married in Pipestone, Minnesota. They made their home in Pipestone until 1979 and then moved to Madison, South Dakota. While Kimberly was young, Ardys stayed home to care for her but eventually Ardys worked in the kitchen at Bethel Lutheran Home for approximately five years.  Her next job was working at Classic Corner. She worked there for five years and retired just as COVID reached a pandemic.

Some of her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, doing word searches and following the Minnesota Twins.  

Ardys is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Dirckx (friend, Lonny Kaiser) of Madison; nieces and nephews, Linda Stevens of Chandler, Minnesota, Leah Luken of Watertown, South Dakota, Kevin Welk of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Michael Fillis (Beth) of Pittsville, Maryland, Michelle (Paul) Lindgren of Blair, Nebraska, and Mark (Valerie) Fillis of Pueblo, Colorado.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore; five brothers, Roy (Mabel), Elmer, Aldro, Bob and Glen; three sisters, Velma Stevens, Gwen Fillis and Mary Jane Welk.
